What inspired you to start woodworking?
I've always loved working with my hands and creating things. Woodworking was a natural extension of that passion. My grandfather was a woodworker, and I grew up watching him in his shop. I knew from an early age that I wanted to pursue woodworking as a hobby and eventually as a career.
Do you have any formal training in woodworking?
No, I am mostly self-taught. I've learned a lot through trial and error, as well as through watching other woodworkers on YouTube and reading books and articles on the subject.
What advice do you have for beginners?
My biggest piece of advice is to just start. Don't worry about having the perfect tools or the perfect workspace. You can learn a lot with just a few basic tools and a willingness to make mistakes. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help or to seek out resources like woodworking classes or online tutorials.
How do you come up with ideas for your projects?
Most of my project ideas come from a need that I have in my own life. For example, I might need a new piece of furniture or a storage solution for my workshop. I also get ideas from my viewers, who often suggest projects or ask me to build specific things.
What is your favorite project that you've ever built?
That's a tough question! I think my favorite project is probably the timber-framed cabin that I built in the woods behind my house. It was a challenging project, but it was incredibly rewarding to see it come together.
How long does it typically take you to complete a project?
It really depends on the project. Some projects can be completed in a few hours, while others take weeks or even months.
What kind of tools do you use?
I use a variety of tools, ranging from hand tools to power tools. Some of my most-used tools include my table saw, jointer, and planer. I also have a good collection of hand tools, including chisels, hand planes, and saws.
What kind of wood do you prefer to work with?
I love working with all kinds of wood, but I'm especially fond of hardwoods like walnut, cherry, and maple. Each species has its own unique characteristics and challenges, which keeps things interesting.
Do you sell your furniture?
I don't really sell my furniture, since most of it is made for personal use or as gifts for friends and family. However, I do sell plans for some of my projects on my website.
